URLINGTON, MA, Sep 04 (MARKET WIRE) --
Acronis(R) Inc. (www.acronis.com), a provider of affordable, scalable
storage management and disaster recovery software, today announced that
its Acronis True Image disk imaging and backup software for businesses
will add support for Microsoft Hyper-V technology to provide those users
with full disaster recovery for both physical and virtual servers.

With Acronis True Image, an entire server can be recovered within minutes
to either an existing system, a new system with different hardware, or to
a virtual server. Acronis True Image also helps increase hardware
utilization for better datacenter return on investment by backing up both
physical and virtual computers.

At the outset, Acronis True Image Echo products run in Hyper-V virtual
machines and will be able to create archives of them. These archives will
be converted to Virtual Server (.vhd) format, which are fully compatible
with Hyper-V. For virtual-to-virtual migration, users running VMware ESX
Server can install an Acronis True Image program into the virtual machine,
create a backup image, convert it to a .vhd, create a diskless VMin
Hyper-V, and then import the .vhd file into Hyper-V.

The company is developing native support for Hyper-V for its Acronis True
Image product family, which includes Acronis True Image Echo Enterprise
Server, Acronis True Image Virtual Edition, Acronis True Image Server for
Windows, Acronis True Image Server for Microsoft Small Business Server,
and Acronis True Image Echo Workstation, as well as Acronis Universal
Restore for each of these products. Acronis Universal Restore is an
add-on module for customers that require the ability to recover server
images to dissimilar hardware, regardless of the operating system or
installed components. With Acronis True Image Virtual Edition, there is
no limit on the number of virtual servers that customers can back up.

"Adoption of Microsoft's Hyper-V technology is expected to increase
dramatically, so it is important for us to support this important new
technology in the market," said Walter Scott, CEO of Acronis. "As a
Microsoft partner, we've had excellent cooperation to expedite the process
of building support into our software, which is great news for our mutual
customers."

There will be no additional charge for the Hyper-V added support. Acronis
has yet to announce the date when users will be able to download the
software update.
