Symantec Brightmail Upgrade Önerilen Adımlar

Sizlerden mailler alınca, Brightmail upgrade’i yaparken önerilen sağlıklı metodolojiyi faydalanacağınızı düşünerek grupla paylaşmak istedim.

Hatırlatma: BM de Control Center/CC ve Scanner olmak üzere 2 rol var. Özetle, CC rolü database, config, logları üzerinde tutan, kısaca size web GUI yi sunan rol. Scannerlar ise MTA olarak tarama görevini yapan roldür. Scannerlar CC a bağlanıp, oradan yönetilmekte. Eğer BM tek sunucu/sistemde kuruluysa, 2 rolde aynı sunucu üzerindedir. Ortamınız tek makina üzerindeyse tüm adımların üzerinden geçmenizi öneriyoruz.

 

                                                                                                                                                    

1.       Validate database (only on Control Center):

Ø  From appliance CLI: >cc-config database –check

Ø  If any error is reported, before running “–repair” and “–optimize” options, it is recommend to check best course of actions with Support before proceeding with the upgrade.

2.       Perform a backup (only on Control Center) and store it off-box

Ø  From console: Administration > Hosts > Version > Backup tab > Backup Now (choose backup type and “Store backup on a remote location using FTP” option)

Ø  From appliance CLI (to check available options): >db-backup –help

3.       Verify appliance resources particularly free disk space

Ø  From console: Status > Hosts > “Hardware Status” and “Hardware Information” tabs

Ø  If necessary and your company policies allow, reduce stored data by performing any of all of the following steps:

·         Delete all messages from spam quarantine and content quarantine to free the Control Center disk space (see admin guide “delete” command in Appendix “Command line reference” or “delete help” from CLI)

·         Purge all reports (see admin guide “Purging report data”)

·         Delete all log files (see admin guide “Manually deleting log files”)

4.       Download latest version on each host:

Ø  From console: Administration > Hosts > Version > Updates tab > “Check for updates” and “Download only”

Ø  From appliance CLI:

                              >update list

                              >update download

5.       Stop mail flow on Scanners and flush queues before you update

Ø  From admin console: Administration > Hosts > Configuration, and edit a Scanner. On the Services tab, click “Do not accept incoming messages” and click Save. Allow some time for messages to drain from your queues.

Ø  From admin console: Status > SMTP > Message Queues. Flush the messages that are left in the queues.          

6.       Update Control Center first and then Scanners.

Ø  From admin console: Administration > Hosts > Version > Updates tab > Install

Ø  From appliance CLI:

>update check

                              >update install

                              >tail -f update.log

7.       Verify product version and service status on each host

Ø  From admin console: Status > Hosts > “Software and Services” tab

Ø  From appliance CLI:

>show –version

>service <service name> status
